Can HDF5 be accessed via master.h5 file path?

Currently, HDF5 files are accessed using the following URI format:
imas:hdf5?path=/work/imas/shared/imasdb/ITER/3/134174/117

Since this points to a directory, would it be possible to instead reference the file directly, similarly netcdf files, for example:
/work/imas/shared/imasdb/ITER/3/134174/117/master.h5

instead of using the full URI format?

The difference with netCDF files and the HDF5 backend is that the netCDF file contains all data, while the master.h5 only contains some links to other files.

The strategy so far is for applications (e.g. IMAS-Paraview, IBEX) to construct the IMAS URI from a selected backend file.
