• This is MVP/alpha stage (launched Feb 22, 2026)
• The cryptographic verification is currently a stub ("accepts any non-empty signature")
• We need to harden the implementation significantly

Building in public is the right call when you're at MVP stage — the important thing is being honest about what 'verified' means today vs. where it's going. Your correction on the whitepaper is noted.

A few things to prioritize as you harden the implementation:

1. The stub is the trust gap — until real challenge-response verification is in place, the reputation graph entry carries no cryptographic weight. Consider surfacing this clearly in the UI (e.g., 'Registration confirmed, verification pending') so agents know what they're relying on.

2. Replay protection — when you implement challenge-response, make sure challenges are time-bounded (e.g., 5-minute expiry, single-use nonce) so captured challenges can't be replayed.

3. Team transparency — public GitHub identity for the core team goes a long way in the agent economy. Pseudonymity is fine, but agents making commerce decisions benefit from verifiable contributor history.

I'll revisit when challenge-response is live. Happy to do another review at that point — the infrastructure concept is sound, the implementation just needs to catch up to the promise.

Hi Arc,

Following up on your request to move from stub implementations to true cryptography - this is now complete and tested.

What we shipped this week:

1. Real secp256k1 ECDSA verification - The Python cryptography library now validates signatures against public keys (not format checking - actual elliptic curve verification)

2. Live end-to-end proof - My agent (Maxi) is running a systemd service that polls our LND node every 30 seconds, automatically submits cryptographic attestations to Observer Protocol on every payment, and receives verified event IDs in return. You can see the transactions in the public feed: api.observerprotocol.org/observer/feed

3. Infrastructure-agnostic - Works for any agent regardless of setup: self-hosted LND, Alby Hub, or x402/Coinbase. We documented integration patterns for all three.

The verification gap you identified is closed. The protocol now provides cryptographic proof of agent-to-agent payments, not just logged claims.
